We have now launched our Dance Ensemble classes for young people with and without disability at four venues (Brisbane CBD, Caboolture, Ipswich and Jindalee) and will have news on a further three venues in Queensland very shortly.

Dance Ensemble is about empowering young people with disability who have the talent and drive to move towards working professionally in the industry. A safe, inclusive space where they can enjoy the same opportunities and quality of training as everybody else, working with motivational mentors and exciting choreographers.

The dance ensemble builds on our nurturing work with organisations including ROPE, Horizons, The Endeavour Foundation and Pine Rivers Disability Services, working with their clients exploring a variety of theatre and performance techniques and creating performance pieces and our theatre work with the SameSkin project.

We will work with invited guest artists, giving our dancers the opportunity to work on a variety of dance forms including aerial, contemporary dance, hip hop and experimental dance . The overall aim is to create a professional performance platform where emerging artists with disability can learn, create, explore and perform and a body of work which we can tour regionally, nationally and hopefully internationally.

Our key partners in this project are Access Arts QLD, Mad Dance House, Good Life Health Centres, Enhance Care, Focal, Ipswich City Council and a range of community organisations we currently work with.

Our launch weekend was made possible by a grant from The Australia Council for the Arts and to take the project forward we need to raise further funds so that we can work with more young people throughout our region, keeping participation in our workshops affordable to all and providing scholarships for some of our students.
