Queensland Mental Health Week
Venue: NeverLand Theatre, North Lakes
Facilitators: Angela Witcher and Cath Quinn
Mental health is important to all of us, particularly in these unprecedented times, yet it is a part of life we often push to one side. Busy lives get in the way of us caring for our mental health, as does a fear of feeling vulnerable if we share our mental health challenges.
Queensland Mental Health Week is an opportunity to bring communities together, reach out to those who need support, and shine a spotlight on the things we can all do to support mental health. (QMHW 2020)
So where better to shine a spotlight than in a theatre? InsideOutside Theatre Company has experience of working with people with disability, disadvantage and dementia and has partnered with Neami National and NeverLand Theatre to provide these brand new workshops.
- To help develop an understanding and awareness of mental health challenges in a fun, creative environment.
- To remove stigma and allow participants to manage their mental health journey in a more positive manner.
- To create new friendships and improve confidence and communication skills.
- To learn about self-care and how to practice and promote it.
All provided in a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Exercises and sessions have been adapted to ensure they are COVID-19 compliant.
Open to people who are NDIS and non NDIS participants. Very limited capacity. 15 October is for young people aged 14-25 and 16 October for people over 25.
