Resources for Workshop leaders and facilitators
These resources have been compiled by Angela Witcher and distributed free of charge online. The games and workshop ideas come from a variety of sources over a period of around 20 years.
I am happy to share these with anyone who may find them useful but respectfully ask that you do not in any way seek to profit from onselling or marketing of this work – it is very much a community resource.
I have worked as a theatre practitioner for 30 years, as performer, director, writer and facilitator with people of all ages on opposite sides of the world. During that time I have met and been inspired by many wonderful individuals and organisations. I hope that in turn I have inspired and motivated others and will continue to do so for many years to come.
I love the exhilaration of walking into a room full of ‘new’ people and wondering how I will feel when I come out after a workshop. I adore the experimental nature of theatre workshops and the constant surprises and nuggets of wonder they produce. I enjoy seeing people’s imaginations working and to watch them truly let go.
In short, I love to play and I think everyone should play at least once a week however old they are.
I have worked with a variety of groups and the group dynamics usually dictate whether you, as a teacher, director or facilitator, need to adapt the exercises at all. However, I find this is rare and that they work for most groups of 10 years and upwards and also for young people and adults with intellectual disabilities.
I have separated the exercises into what I hope are logical categories as follows – just follow each link to the relevant page.
I have also added a few monologues that I have written for auditions.
This is by no means everything, just a taster. I will update this page as often as possible. I hope you find it useful.
