The one-of-a-kind SameSkin program is celebrating its success by introducing a second location at the Caboolture PCYC Community Shed, Toovey Street, Caboolture. The new weekly workshops will commence August 1 and run from 1:30pm until 3:30pm.
SameSkin inclusive theatre workshops benefit young people with and without disabilities through the mediums of drama and dance/physical theatre and will aim to:
- Encourage friendships, teamwork and networking opportunities.
- Allow participants to experience the pleasure of creativity.
- Provide quality training in drama and dance/physical theatre.
- Create performance opportunities.
- Provide employment and/or personal development for participants.
Participants will have the opportunity to perform in their very own theatre production at the end of the course; a play written and directed by our very own Angela Witcher. They may also have other exciting opportunities, like that of the Redcliffe program, where workshop participants became roaming performers at Government House in June this year (pictured).
By working closely with organisations offering lifeskills and networking opportunities to people with disabilities, we work towards building a strong involvement for our participants, leading to increased audience capacity and further employment opportunities for both the disabled and arts sectors within our community.
